Description

Protocadherin Gamma Antibody [N159/5 (Formerly sold as S159-5)]

Protocadherin Gamma Antibody [N159/5 (Formerly sold as S159-5)] is a mouse monoclonal antibody directed against Protocadherin Gamma, offered by Assay Genie for research applications. Reported applications include WB, IHC and ICC/IF. Reported reactivity: Human, Mouse and Rat. Supplied as IgG1, purified by Protein G.

Protocadherin Gamma is part of a large gene cluster on chromosome 5, organized in an immunoglobulin-like tandem array. This cluster includes 22 genes divided into three subfamilies (A, B, and C), each encoding neural cadherin-like cell adhesion proteins. Each gene contains a variable region exon encoding six extracellular cadherin domains and a transmembrane region, followed by three constant region exons encoding a shared cytoplasmic domain. This structure enables diverse cell-cell recognition and adhesion mechanisms in the brain. Protocadherin Gamma proteins are critical for establishing and maintaining specific neuronal connections. Their alternative splicing and combinatorial expression contribute to synaptic specificity and neural circuit formation. Dysregulation of these proteins may impair synaptic connectivity and has been implicated in neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders. This antibody is also available conjugated to ATTO 390, ATTO 488, ATTO 594, APC, Biotin, FITC, HRP, PerCP and RPE. Supplied in 100 µg. For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
