Description

mGluR1/5 Antibody [N75/3 (Formerly sold as S75-3)]

mGluR1/5 Antibody [N75/3 (Formerly sold as S75-3)] is a mouse monoclonal antibody directed against mGluR1/5, offered by Assay Genie for research applications. Reported applications include WB, IHC, ICC/IF and IP. Reported reactivity: Human, Mouse and Rat. Supplied as IgG2A, purified by Protein G.

mGluR5 (metabotropic glutamate receptor 5) is a subtype of glutamate receptor that regulates synaptic transmission and plasticity via G-protein-coupled signaling. It is predominantly expressed in the hippocampus, cortex, and striatum—regions vulnerable to neurodegeneration. Aberrant mGluR5 activity has been linked to excitotoxicity, calcium dysregulation, and neuroinflammation, contributing to the pathophysiology of Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). mGluR5 also interacts with amyloid precursor protein and tau, influencing their aggregation and toxicity. Pharmacological modulation of mGluR5 has shown promise in preclinical models, where antagonists reduce neuronal loss and improve cognitive outcomes. As a key regulator of glutamatergic tone, mGluR5 is a compelling target for therapeutic intervention in neurodegenerative disorders characterized by synaptic dysfunction and excitatory imbalance. This antibody is also available conjugated to ATTO 390, ATTO 488, ATTO 594, APC, Biotin, FITC, HRP, PerCP and RPE. Supplied in 100 µg. For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
