This gene encodes a member of the forkhead class of DNA-binding proteins. These hepatocyte nuclear factors are transcriptional activators for liver-specific genes such as albumin and transthyretin, and they also interact with chromatin. Similar family members in mice have roles in the regulation of metabolism and in the differentiation of the pancreas and liver. This gene has been linked to sporadic cases of maturity-onset diabetes of the young. Transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.

Western blot analysis of lysates from Hep G2 cells using HNF3β/FOXA2 Rabbit mAb (CAB19053) at 1:1000 dilution incubated at room temperature for 1.5 hours. Secondary antibody: HRP-conjugated Goat anti-Rabbit IgG (H+L) (CABS014) at 1:10000 dilution. Lysates/proteins: 25 μg per lane. Blocking buffer: 3% nonfat dry milk in TBST. Detection: ECL Basic Kit (AbGn00020). Exposure time: 45s.
Confocal imaging of Hep G2 cells using HNF3β/FOXA2 Rabbit mAb (CAB19053,dilution 1:100) followed by a further incubation with Cy3 Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG (H+L) (CABS007,dilution 1:500)(Red).The cells were counterstained with α-Tubulin Mouse mAb (AC012, dilution 1:400) followed by incubation with ABflo® 488-conjugated Goat Anti-Mouse IgG (H+L) Ab (CABS076, dilution 1:500) (Green).DAPI was used for nuclear staining (Blue). Objective: 100x.
