Description
Human Thioredoxin/TXN Recombinant Protein
Thioredoxin; also known as ATL-derived factor; Surface-associated sulfhydryl protein; SASP and TXN; is a surface-associated nucleus, cytoplasm, and secreted thioredoxin family protein. Thioredoxins are proteins that function as antioxidants by helping to decrease other proteins through cysteine thiol-disulfide exchange. Thioredoxins are found in all known life forms, and they are required for mammal survival. Thioredoxin is involved in a variety of redox processes, including the reversible oxidation of its active center dithiol to a disulfide and dithiol-disulfide exchange reactions. The reversible S-nitrosylation of cysteine residues in target proteins is aided by thioredoxin; as a result, it contributes to the intracellular nitric oxide response. The active site Cys of CASP3 is nitrated by thioredoxin in response to nitric oxide (NO); as a result, caspase-3 activity is reduced. Thioredoxin activates the FOS/JUN AP-1 DNA binding activity in ionizing radiation (IR) cells by changing the oxidation/reduction state and increasing transcriptional activity. Human Thioredoxin/TXN Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
