Protein S100-A2 is a calcium-binding protein found in the S100 family of proteins, which includes two EF-hand calcium-binding motifs. S100-A2 was originally discovered in the lungs and kidneys, with a focus on certain tissues and cells such as breast epithelia and liver. The S100A2 protein is a homodimer that undergoes a conformational change when calcium binds to it, and the active form works in cell proliferation, differentiation, gene transcription, and p53-dependent growth arrest and apoptosis. The protein S100A2 is considered a potential tumor suppressor, and chromosomal rearrangements and decreased transcription of S100A2 gene have been linked to certain malignancies. Human S100A2 Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
