The LIF (Leukemia Inhibitory Factor) is a lymphoid protein that promotes long-term maintenance of embryonic stem cells by inhibiting spontaneous differentiation. Other LIF activities include cholinergic neuron differentiation; stem cell pluripotency control; bone and fat metabolism; mitogenesis of factor-dependent cell lines, as well as in vivo megakaryocyte production. The mature LIF present in human and murine tissues have a 78% sequence identity. Human LIF is equally effective on human and murine cells. Although murine LIF is around 1000 times less active in human cells than human LIF, it is effective. Human LIF Recombinant Protein (E.coli) is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
Measured in a cell proliferation assay using TF?1 human erythroleukemic cells. The ED50 for this effect is 32.1 pg/ml.
