Interleukin-18 is a secreted protein and it belongs to the IL-1 family. IL-18 is a proinflammatory cytokine that is produced by macrophages and other cells. The IL-18 cytokine can stimulate T-cell IFN-gamma synthesis. The combination of IL-18 and IL12 has been demonstrated to reduce IgE and IgG1 synthesis in B cells, as well as enhance IgG2a production. The interleukin-18 binding protein (IL18BP) can bind specifically to this cytokine, and thus suppress its biological function. Natural killer (NK) cells and certain T cells also release another important cytokine, interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma) or type II interferon, after IL-18 stimulation. The activation of macrophages or other cells by this cytokine is known as type II IFN. Human Interleukin8/IL8 Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
