Interferon-gamma (IFN-g) is a type of interferon that is produced by mitogenically or antigenically stimulated lymphocytes. It is structurally distinct from type I interferon and has a more restricted role in the body's immune response. It has been linked to the production of class II histocompatibility antigens in cells that do not normally express them, resulting in autoimmune disease. Interferon gamma is made by T-cells and natural killer cells that have been activated by antigens, mitogens, or alloantigens. CD4 and CD8 surface antigens on lymphocytes are responsible for its synthesis. IL-2, FGF-basic, and EGF stimulate IFN-gamma production. Human Interferon gamma/IFNG Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
