IL-1 receptor-like 1 (IL1RL1) is a membrane protein that plays a role in TH2 inflammatory responses and eosinophilia. It has been noted that the IL1RL1 protein level may be used to diagnose cardiovascular illness and predict a patient's prognosis in patients with cardiovascular disease. The ligand for IL1RL1, which has been dubbed IL-33, has been identified. Blood eosinophil counts and asthma have both been linked to variations in IL1RL1 in genome-wide association studies and family-based and case-control studies. This cytokine has been linked to the regulation of both the formation and effector phases of type 2 helper T cell responses, as well as macrophage pro-inflammatory function. It is an important mediator in several immune and inflammatory processes. ST2L binds to the IL33 receptor and activates it, causing Th2 cytokines to be produced.
