FGF acidic (ECGF/FGF-1/HBGF-1) is a non-glycosylated heparin binding growth factor that may be found in the brain, kidney, retina, smooth muscle cells, bone matrix, osteoblasts, astrocytes, and endothelial cells. It's a mitogenic protein that is made by many cell types, including mesodermal, ectodermal, and endodermal cells, and promotes the growth of cells from these three layers. FGF receptors must be activated in the presence of heparan sulfate. In the end, FGF acidic is transported to the nucleus, where it is phosphorylated by nuclear PKC delta and then exported to the cytosol and degraded. Intracellular FGF acidic inhibits p53 function and proapoptotic signaling. Human FGF/FGFa Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
