Circulating C-reactive protein (CRP) is formed by the liver in response to fat cell secretions. It's part of the pentraxin family of proteins. CRP levels rise in reaction to inflammation. The classical acute phase reactant is human C-reactive protein (CRP), which increases rapidly and widely in a cytokine-induced response to tissue injury, infection, and inflammation. Serum CRP levels are frequently tested in research and empirically to detect and monitor several human diseases. However, through its ability to bind to exogenous and autologous molecules containing phosphocholine (PC) and subsequently stimulate the classical complement pathway, CRP is likely to have essential host protection, scavenging, and metabolic activities. CRP may also have pathogenic effects and the recent discovery of a prognostic association between increased CRP production and coronary atherothrombotic events is of particular interest. Human CRP/C-Reactive Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
