ASGR1 is a subunit of the asialoglycoprotein receptor. ASGR1 is a transmembrane protein that controls endocytosis and lysosomal breakdown of glycoproteins with exposed terminal galactose or N-acetylgalactosamine residues, which is critical for glycoprotein homeostasis. The asialoglycoprotein receptor serves as a target for liver-specific drug delivery, and it may aid viral infection in the liver by many pathogens, including hepatitis B. The asialoglycoprotein receptor is a heteropolymeric protein with two distinct genes encoding its major and minor components. Hepatitis is a condition that is associated with ASGR1. Protein metabolism and transport to the Golgi and subsequent modification are two examples of ASGR1 related pathways. Human ASGR1/ASGPR1 Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
