This receptor mediates diverse biological actions of adenylate cyclase activating polypeptide 1 and is positively coupled to adenylate cyclase. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified. |

Causes smooth muscle relaxation and secretion in the gastrointestinal tract. Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 2 family. 5 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. |
