![]() | Immunofluorescence staining of PC-3 cells with PACO59972 at 1:133, counter-stained with DAPI. The cells were fixed in 4% formaldehyde, permeabilized using 0.2% Triton X-100 and blocked in 10% normal Goat Serum. The cells were then incubated with the antibody overnight at 4°C. The secondary antibody was Alexa Fluor 488-congugated AffiniPure Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG(H+L). |
| Background: | Extremely potent competitive inhibitor of cAMP-dependent protein kinase activity, this protein interacts with the catalytic subunit of the enzyme after the cAMP-induced dissociation of its regulatory chains. |
| Synonyms: | cAMP-dependent protein kinase inhibitor γ (PKI-gamma), PKIG |
| UniProt Protein Function: | PKIG: Extremely potent competitive inhibitor of cAMP-dependent protein kinase activity, this protein interacts with the catalytic subunit of the enzyme after the cAMP-induced dissociation of its regulatory chains. Belongs to the PKI family. |
| UniProt Protein Details: | Protein type:Inhibitor; Protein kinase, regulatory subunit Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 20q12-q13.1 Cellular Component: cytoplasm; nucleus Molecular Function:cAMP-dependent protein kinase inhibitor activity Biological Process: negative regulation of protein import into nucleus; negative regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; signal transduction |
| NCBI Summary: | This gene encodes a member of the protein kinase inhibitor family. Studies of a similar protein in mice suggest that this protein acts as a potent competitive cAMP-dependent protein kinase inhibitor, and is a predominant form of inhibitor in various tissues. The encoded protein may be involved in osteogenesis. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2013] |
