![]() | IHC image of PACO62943 diluted at 1:100 and staining in paraffin-embedded human colon cancer performed on a Leica BondTM system. After dewaxing and hydration, antigen retrieval was mediated by high pressure in a citrate buffer (pH 6.0). Section was blocked with 10% normal goat serum 30min at RT. Then primary antibody (1% BSA) was incubated at 4°C overnight. The primary is detected by a biotinylated secondary antibody and visualized using an HRP conjugated SP system. |

| Synonyms: | Beta-1,3-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase manic fringe (EC 2.4.1.222) (O-fucosylpeptide 3-beta-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase), MFNG |
| UniProt Protein Function: | MFNG: Glycosyltransferase involved in the elongation of O- linked ligands to activate Notch signaling. Possesses fucose- specific beta-1,3-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase activity. Belongs to the glycosyltransferase 31 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.Protein type: Transferase; Membrane protein, integral; EC 2.4.1.222Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 22q12Cellular Component: extracellular space; integral to Golgi membraneMolecular Function: metal ion binding; O-fucosylpeptide 3-beta-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase activityBiological Process: positive regulation of protein binding; metabolic process; pattern specification process; positive regulation of Notch signaling pathway |

| NCBI Summary: | This gene is a member of the glycosyltransferase 31 gene family. Members of this gene family, which also includes the LFNG (GeneID: 3955) and RFNG (GeneID: 5986) genes, encode evolutionarily conserved glycosyltransferases that act in the Notch signaling pathway to define boundaries during embryonic development. While their genomic structure is distinct from other glycosyltransferases, these proteins have a fucose-specific beta-1,3-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase activity that leads to elongation of O-linked fucose residues on Notch, which alters Notch signaling. The protein encoded by this gene may control Notch signaling in claudin-low breast cancer. [provided by RefSeq, May 2018] |
