ZNF346 is a nucleolar, zinc finger protein which specially binds to double-stranded RNA or RNA/DNA fusions, instead of DNA alone. Zinc finger domains vital for dsRNA binding and essential for its nucleolar localization. ZNF346 takes part in cell growth and survival.
ZNF346 Human Recombinant produced in E.coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 317 amino acids (1-294) and having a molecular mass of 35.3 kDa.ZNF346 is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | ZNF346: Binds to dsRNA and DNA. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. |
UniProt Protein Details: | Protein type:Nucleolus Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 5q35.2 Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; cytoplasm; nucleolus; nucleus Molecular Function:protein binding; enzyme binding; zinc ion binding; double-stranded RNA binding Biological Process: positive regulation of apoptosis |
NCBI Summary: | The protein encoded by this gene is a nucleolar, zinc finger protein that preferentially binds to double-stranded (ds) RNA or RNA/DNA hybrids, rather than DNA alone. Mutational studies indicate that the zinc finger domains are not only essential for dsRNA binding, but are also required for its nucleolar localization. The encoded protein may be involved in cell growth and survival. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
