UBE2T is part of the E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme family that participates in the protein degradation pathway. UBE2T catalyzes the ATP-dependent attachment of ubiquitin to target proteins, thus tagging them for subsequent destruction by the proteasome. UBE2T is an important factor of the Faconi anemia pathway of DNA damage repair and, upon self-inactivation, may negatively regulate the Faconi pathway.
UBE2T Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 205 amino acids (1-197 a.a.) and having a molecular mass of 23.6 kDa. The UBE2T is fused to an 8 amino acid His Tag at C-Terminus and purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | UBE2T: Accepts ubiquitin from the E1 complex and catalyzes its covalent attachment to other proteins. Catalyzes monoubiquitination. Involved in mitomycin-C (MMC)-induced DNA repair: acts as a specific E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme for the Fanconi anemia complex by associating with E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase FANCL and catalyzing monoubiquitination of FANCD2, a key step in the DNA damage pathway. Also mediates monoubiquitination of FANCL and FANCI. May contribute to ubiquitination and degradation of BRCA1. In vitro able to promote polyubiquitination using all 7 ubiquitin Lys residues, but may prefer 'Lys-11'-, 'Lys-27'-, 'Lys-48'- and 'Lys-63'-linked polyubiquitination. Belongs to the ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme family. |

NCBI Summary: | The covalent conjugation of ubiquitin to proteins regulates diverse cellular pathways and proteins. Ubiquitin is transferred to a target protein through a concerted action of a ubiquitin-activating enzyme (E1), a ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme (E2), such as UBE2T, and a ubiquitin ligase (E3) (Machida et al., 2006 [PubMed 16916645]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008] |
