Description

Human TOM20 (translocase of outer mitochondrial membrane 20 homolog) ELISA

TOMM20 (Translocase of outer mitochondrial membrane 20) is a protein-coding gene that is an essential component of the receptor complex responsible for the recognition and translocation of cytosolically synthesized mitochondrial preproteins. The TOMM20 protein, in conjunction with the TOM22 protein, acts as a transit peptide receptor at the mitochondrial outer membrane and aids in the movement of preproteins into the TOM40 translocation pore. TOMM20 plays a critical role in transporting cytochrome P450 monooxygenases across the mitochondrial outer membrane by assisting with the translocation process.TOMM20 is regularly associated with several diseases, including cone-rod dystrophy 10 and Alzheimer's disease 7. The digestion of proteins and neuroscience are among the many pathways that are connected to TOMM20. TOMM20L is a paralog of TOMM20. Unfolded protein binding and protein-transporting ATPase activity are noted as being associated with TOMM20 in gene ontology annotations.
