Transforming Growth Factor beta-1 (TGF beta-1) is a secreted protein which belongs to the TGF-beta family. TGF beta-1 is found in high amounts in bone, especially in articular cartilage and chondrocytes. It's also higher in osteoarthritis (OA). TGF beta-1 controls cell growth, proliferation, differentiation, as well as apoptosis in a variety of cells. The precursor is cleaved into a latency-associated peptide (LAP) and a fully processed TGF beta-1 protein. TGF-beta may also interact with other TGF beta family members, forming heterodimers. TGF beta-1 is upregulated in tumor cells, according to studies. Camurati-Engelmann disease is a genetic condition that results from mutations in the TGF beta-1 gene. Human TGFB1/TGF-beta 1 Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
