SynaptotagminV, (SYT5) is a member of synaptotagmin family, which is a family of type IIImembrane proteins characterized by cytoplasmic repeats related to proteinkinase C regulatory (C2) domains that are considered to bind calcium.Synaptotagmins function as negative regulators of vesicle fusion, allowingfusion in the attendance of calcium, and as calcium receptors or sensormolecules. Among the diseases associated with SYT5 are labyrinthitis, andthyroiditis.

SYT5 Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 301 amino acids (109-386aa) and having a molecular mass of 33.6kDa.SYT5 is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

UniProt Protein Function:SYT5: May be involved in Ca(2+)-dependent exocytosis of secretory vesicles through Ca(2+) and phospholipid binding to the C2 domain or may serve as Ca(2+) sensors in the process of vesicular trafficking and exocytosis. Regulates the Ca(2+)- dependent secretion of norepinephrine in PC12 cells. Required for export from the endocytic recycling compartment to the cell surface. Belongs to the synaptotagmin family.
