Synaptotagmin-4 (SYT4) is a part of the synaptotagmin proteins family. Synaptotagmins are a large gene family of synaptic vesicle type III integral membrane proteins that operate as regulators of both exocytosis and endocytosis and are involved in neurotransmitter secretion from small secretory vesicles. SYT4 is expressed in neuronal tissues, and has the highest mRNA levels in the hippocampus. The proximity of the SYT4 gene to markers of several psychiatric disorders implies an involvement of SYT4 in human disease such as pheochromocytoma, and parkinson's disease.
SYT4 Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 409 amino acids (38-425a.a) and having a molecular mass of 46.1kDa. SYT4 is fused to a 21 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | SYT4: May be involved in Ca(2+)-dependent exocytosis of secretory vesicles through Ca(2+) and phospholipid binding to the C2 domain or may serve as Ca(2+) sensors in the process of vesicular trafficking and exocytosis. Belongs to the synaptotagmin family. |
