SCAND1 is a part of a family of genes which encode an isolated SCAN domain. SCAN domain containing 1 has one SCAN box domain and has no zinc finger motif, which distinct this protein from almost all other SCAN domain containing proteins. SCAND1 is a nuclear protein that takes a part in the mechanism of transcription regulation. SCAND1 is extensively expressed in high levels in the kidney, thyroid, liver, prostate and testis.
SCAND1 produced in E.Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 199 amino acids (1-179 a.a.) and having a molecular mass of 21.2kDa (molecular weight on SDS-PAGE will appear higher).SCAND1 is fused to a 20 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | SCAND1: may regulate transcriptional activity. Contains a SCAN domain, which mediates protein interactions. |

NCBI Summary: | This gene encodes a SCAN box domain-containing protein. The SCAN domain is a highly conserved, leucine-rich motif of approximately 60 aa originally found within a subfamily of zinc finger proteins. This gene belongs to a family of genes that encode an isolated SCAN domain, but no zinc finger motif. This protein binds to and may regulate the function of the transcription factor myeloid zinc finger 1B. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.[provided by RefSeq, Jan 2011] |
