Ribosomalprotein S2, (RPS2) is a member of the S5P family ofribosomal proteins. Ribosomes, the organelles which catalyze protein synthesis, consist of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit. Jointlythese subunits are composed of 4 RNA species and approximately 80 structurally different proteins. RPS2 is a ribosomal protein which is acomponent of the 40S subunit. RPS2located in the cytoplasm. RPS2 sharessequence similarity with mouse LLRep3. RPS2 has been associated with diamond-blackfananemia, and herpes simplex.
RPS2 Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 316 amino acids (1-293aa) and having a molecular mass of 33.7kDa.RPS2 is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | RPS2: a ribosomal protein that is a component of the 40S subunit. The protein belongs to the S5P family of ribosomal proteins. It is located in the cytoplasm. This gene shares sequence similarity with mouse LLRep3. It is co-transcribed with the small nucleolar RNA gene U64, which is located in its third intron. As is typical for genes encoding ribosomal proteins, there are multiple processed pseudogenes of this gene dispersed through the genome. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
