RAB8, Member RAS Oncogene Family (RAB8B), is a low molecular mass monomeric GTPases which localize on the cytoplasmic surfaces of distinct membrane-bound organelles. RAB8 takes part in polarized vesicular trafficking and neurotransmitter release and also in cell junction dynamics in Sertoli cells. RAB proteins function in intracellular vesicle transport by aiding in the docking or fusion of vesicles with their target membranes.
RAB8 Human Recombinant produced in E. coli is a single polypeptide chain containing 227 amino acids (1-204) and having a molecular mass of 25.7kDa. RAB8 is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | RAB8B: May be involved in vesicular trafficking and neurotransmitter release. May participate in cell junction dynamics in Sertoli cells. Belongs to the small GTPase superfamily. Rab family. |
UniProt Protein Details: | Protein type:G protein, monomeric; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; G protein, monomeric, Rab; G protein Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 15q22.2 Cellular Component: peroxisomal membrane; phagocytic vesicle Molecular Function:GDP binding; protein binding; receptor binding Biological Process: antigen processing and presentation; cilium biogenesis; protein import into peroxisome membrane; protein secretion; vesicle docking during exocytosis |
NCBI Summary: | RAB proteins, like RAB8B, are low molecular mass monomeric GTPases that localize on the cytoplasmic surfaces of distinct membrane-bound organelles. RAB proteins function in intracellular vesicle transport by aiding in the docking and/or fusion of vesicles with their target membranes (summary by Chen et al., 1997 [PubMed 9030196]).[supplied by OMIM, Nov 2010] |
