PPP3R1 is an active regulatory subunit of calcineurin. Calcineurin is a calcium-dependent, calcium-modulated protein phosphatase. Calcium sensitivity is modified by PPP3R1. Spinocerebellar ataxia is a PPP3R1-related condition. The phospholipase C pathway, CDK-mediated phosphorylation, and Cdc6 removal are all examples of PPP3R1 related pathways.
