Platelet-Derived Growth Factor Subunit B (PDGFB) belongs to the PDGF/VEGF growth factor family, which includes a number of other members. Platelet-derived growth factor is a mitogen for mesenchymal cell lines. PDGFB can exist either as a homodimer (PDGF-BB) or as a heterodimer with the platelet-derived growth factor alpha polypeptide (PDGF-AB), where the dimers are connected by disulfide bonds. Meningioma is linked to a variety of mutations in this gene. PDGFB binds to its receptor, which stimulates a variety of cellular responses. PDGFB is also released by platelets during injury, and it serves an essential function in encouraging adjacent cells to proliferate and heal the wound. Human PDGF-BB Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
Measured in a cell proliferation assay using BALB/c 3T3 cells. The ED50 for this effect is 15-60ng/ml.
