PARK2 is an element in a multiprotein E3 ubiquitin ligase complex which mediates the targeting of substrate proteins for proteasomal degradation. PARK2 alterations can result in Parkinson disease and autosomal recessive juvenile Parkinson disease. Alternative splicing creates multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms.�
