Myosin light polypeptide 6 (MYL6) is a hexameric ATPase cellular motor protein. MYL6 is composed of 2 heavy chains, 2 nonphosphorylatable alkali light chains, and 2o phosphorylatable regulatory light chains. MYL6 is a myosin alkali light chain which is expressed in smooth muscle and non-muscle tissues. MYL6 partakes in generating the force for cellular movements, thus having an imperative role in overall cellular function.
MYL6 Human Recombinant fused with a20 amino acid His tag at N-terminus produced in E.Coli is a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing171 amino acids (1-151 a.a.) and having a molecular mass of 19.1kDa. The MYL6 is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | MYL6: Regulatory light chain of myosin. Does not bind calcium. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. |

NCBI Summary: | Myosin is a hexameric ATPase cellular motor protein. It is composed of two heavy chains, two nonphosphorylatable alkali light chains, and two phosphorylatable regulatory light chains. This gene encodes a myosin alkali light chain that is expressed in smooth muscle and non-muscle tissues. Genomic sequences representing several pseudogenes have been described and two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
