Human MIF Recombinant Protein
The human MIF protein is a 12.5 kDa, 115 amino acid (aa) nonglycosylated polypeptide generated without a signal sequence. Secretion occurs nonclassically via an ABCA1 transporter. MIF is a pro-inflammatory cytokine that plays a role in the innate immune response to bacterial infections. MIF's presence at inflammatory sites appears to suggest it has a role in host defense by mediating the activity of acrophages. MIF counteracts the anti-inflammatory activity of glucocorticoids. However, MIF has phenylpyruvate tautomerase and dopachrome tautomerase activity (in vitro), although the physiological substrate is unknown. It's not clear whether the tautomerase activity has any physiological significance or if it is required for cytokine action. Human MIF Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
