LeucineZipper Transcription Factor-Like 1, also known as LZTFL1 is a ubiquitouslyexpressed protein which localizes to the cytoplasm. LZTFL1 interacts with Bardet-BiedlSyndrome proteins (BBS) and during its interaction with BBS protein complexes, regulates protein trafficking to the ciliary membrane. Nonsense mutations inLZTFL1 cause a form of Bardet-Biedl Syndrome; a ciliopathy characterized partlyby polydactyly, obesity, cognitive impairment, hypogonadism, and kidney failure. LZTFL1 also acts as a tumorsuppressor; possibly by interacting with E-cadherin as well as the actin cytoskeletonand in this manner regulating the transition of epithelial cells to mesenchymalcells.
LZTFL1 Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a single, non-glycosylatedpolypeptide chain containing 322 amino acids (1-299 a.a) and having a molecularmass of 37.0kDa.LZTFL1 is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus& purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

NCBI Summary: | This gene encodes a ubiquitously expressed protein that localizes to the cytoplasm. This protein interacts with Bardet-Biedl Syndrome (BBS) proteins and, through its interaction with BBS protein complexes, regulates protein trafficking to the ciliary membrane. Nonsense mutations in this gene cause a form of Bardet-Biedl Syndrome; a ciliopathy characterized in part by polydactyly, obesity, cognitive impairment, hypogonadism, and kidney failure. This gene may also function as a tumor suppressor; possibly by interacting with E-cadherin and the actin cytoskeleton and thereby regulating the transition of epithelial cells to mesenchymal cells. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2013] |
