The CD146 antigen, also known as melanoma cell adhesion molecule (MCAM) and MUC18, is an integral membrane glycoprotein from the immunoglobulin superfamily. CD146 contains the characteristic immunoglobulin-like domains (V-V-C2-C2-C2), a transmembrane region and a short cytoplasmic tail. CD146 expression is found in endothelial cells in all tissues of the body, and it contributes to cell adhesion as well as endothelial monolayer cohesion at intercellular junctions. CD146, as a Ca2+-independent cell adhesion molecule that is involved in heterophilic cell to cell interactions and a surface receptor, activates FYN and PTK2 tyrosine phosphorylation via tyrosine phosphatases and subsequently produces signal transduction, proteolysis, or immune response. This protein is also expressed predominantly on metastatic lesions and advanced primary tumours, and thus has been suggested to play an important role in tumour progression and the development of metastasis in certain human carcinomas. Human IL36G/IL1F9 Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
A DNA sequence encoding the human IL1F9 isoform 1 (Q9NZH8-1) (Met 1-Asp 169) was expressed.
