Insulin-like growth factor I (IGF1) is a member of the family of insulin-like growth factors that are structurally similar to proinsulin. Proteolytic digestion of inactivated precursor protein with N- and C-terminal propeptide regions results in the formation of mature IGFs. Human IGF-I is a protein that contains 70 amino acids and has a 94 percent similarity with mouse IGF1, and it is cross-species active. IGF1 binds IGF-1R; IGF-2R; and the insulin receptor and plays a key role in cell cycle progression; cell proliferation and tumor progression. IGF1 expression is controlled by growth hormone. Human IGF/IGF1 Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
Measured in a serum-free cell proliferation assay using MCF?7 human breast cancer cells. The ED50 for this effect is 52.4 ng/ml.
