Haptoglobin-RelatedProtein also known as HPR, is a primate-specific plasma protein related withapolipoprotein L-I (apoL-I)-containing high-density lipoprotein (HDL) particleswhich shown to be a part of the innate immune defense. HPR-bound hemoglobin mightcontribute to the biologic activity of the circulating apoL-I/Hprcontaining HDLparticles. HPR is a clinically significant forecaster of recurrence of breastcancer.
HPR Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a single,non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 352 amino acids (20-348 a.a) andhaving a molecular mass of 39.3kDa.HPR is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus& purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | HPR: a haptoglobin-related protein that binds hemoglobin as efficiently as haptoglobin. Unlike haptoglobin, plasma concentration of this protein is unaffected in patients with sickle cell anemia and extensive intravascular hemolysis, suggesting a difference in binding between haptoglobin-hemoglobin and haptoglobin-related protein-hemoglobin complexes to CD163, the hemoglobin scavenger receptor. This protein may also be a clinically important predictor of recurrence of breast cancer. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2011] |
UniProt Protein Details: | Protein type:Secreted, signal peptide; Secreted Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 16q22.1 Cellular Component: extracellular region Biological Process: positive regulation of defense response to virus by host; receptor-mediated endocytosis |
