The enzyme Glycine N-methyltransferase/GNMT catalyses the conversion of S-adenosyl-L-methionine (along with glycine) to S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine and sarcosine in the body. Glycine N-methyltransferase (GNMT) deficiency is caused by a GNMT gene mutation (hypermethioninemia). The glycinen-methyltransferase/GNMT protein is found within the cytoplasm and performs as a homotetramer. Two diseases linked with GNMT are glycine N-methyltransferase deficiency and hypermethioninemia. The pathways of viral mRNA translation and glyoxylate and glycine degradation are associated with Glycine N-methyltransferase/GNMT. Human GNMT Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
