GLYAT is a mitochondrial acyltransferase that conjugates glycine with acyl-CoA substrates in the mitochondria. GLYAT is vital to the detoxification of endogenous and xenobiotic acyl-CoA's.
GLYAT Human Recombinant produced in E.coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 316 amino acids (1-296) and having a molecular mass of 36.0 kDa.The GLYAT is fused to a 20 amino acid His-Tag at N-terminus and purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | GLYAT: Mitochondrial acyltransferase which transfers an acyl group to the N-terminus of glycine and glutamine, although much less efficiently. Can conjugate numerous substrates to form a variety of N-acylglycines, with a preference for benzoyl-CoA over phenylacetyl-CoA as acyl donors. Thereby detoxify xenobiotics, such as benzoic acid or salicylic acid, and endogenous organic acids, such as isovaleric acid. Belongs to the glycine N-acyltransferase family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. |
