Glutamyl-TRNAAmidotransferase, Subunit C also known as GATC allows the formation of properlycharged Gln-tRNA(Gln) through the transamidation of misacylated Glu-tRNA(Gln) inthe mitochondria. The reaction occurs in the attendance of glutamine and ATP throughan activated gamma-phospho-Glu-tRNA(Gln). In addition, GATC is subunit of theheterotrimeric GatCAB amidotransferase (AdT) complex, composed of A (QRSL1), B (PET112)and C (GATC) subunits.
GATC Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 159 amino acids (1-136 a.a) and having a molecular mass of 17.5kDa (Molecular size on SDS-PAGE will appear higher).GATC is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | GATC: Allows the formation of correctly charged Gln-tRNA(Gln) through the transamidation of misacylated Glu-tRNA(Gln) in the mitochondria. The reaction takes place in the presence of glutamine and ATP through an activated gamma-phospho-Glu- tRNA(Gln). Belongs to the GatC family. |
