EDA2R (ectodysplasin A2 receptor) mediates the activation of theNF-kappa-B and JNK pathways. Activation seems to be mediated through binding toTRAF3 and TRAF6. In addition, Mutations in EDA give rise to a clinical syndromecharacterized by loss of hair, sweat glands, and teeth. EDA2R specificallybinds to EDA-A2 isoform. This protein is a type III transmembrane protein ofthe TNFR (tumor necrosis factor receptor) superfamily, and contains 3cysteine-rich repeats and a single transmembrane domain however it lacks anN-terminal signal peptide. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been foundfor this gene. Among the diseases associated with EDA2R are ectodermaldysplasia 1, hypohidrotic, x-linked, and hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia.
EDA2R Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 161 amino acids (1-138 a.a) and having a molecular mass of 17.7kDa.EDA2R is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | Receptor for EDA isoform A2, but not for EDA isoform A1. Mediates the activation of the NF-kappa-B and JNK pathways. Activation seems to be mediated by binding to TRAF3 and TRAF6. |

NCBI Summary: | The protein encoded by this gene is a type III transmembrane protein of the TNFR (tumor necrosis factor receptor) superfamily, and contains cysteine-rich repeats and a single transmembrane domain. This protein binds to the EDA-A2 isoform of ectodysplasin, which plays an important role in maintenance of hair and teeth. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encodes distinct protein isoforms.
