Centromere Protein U, also known as CENPU is aspecialized chromatin domain, present throughout the cell cycle. CENPU performsas a platform on which the transient assembly of the kinetochore takes place duringmitosis. CENPU plays a major role in the correct PLK1 localization to themitotic kinetochores. A scaffold protein is responsible for the first recruitmentand maintenance of the kinetochore PLK1 population until its degradation. CENPUis also implicated in transcriptional repression.

CENPU Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 295 amino acids (147-418a.a) and having a molecular mass of 33.7kDa.CENPU is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

UniProt Protein Function:CENPU: Component of the CENPA-NAC (nucleosome-associated) complex, a complex that plays a central role in assembly of kinetochore proteins, mitotic progression and chromosome segregation. The CENPA-NAC complex recruits the CENPA-CAD (nucleosome distal) complex and may be involved in incorporation of newly synthesized CENPA into centromeres. Plays an important role in the correct PLK1 localization to the mitotic kinetochores.
