CENPQ is a Component of a CENPH-CENPI-associated centromeric complex which targets CENPA to centromeres and is necessary for proper kinetochore function and mitotic progression. CENPQ takes part in incorporation of newly synthesized CENPA into centromeres using its interaction with the CENPA-NAC complex.
CENPQ Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 291 amino acids (1-268a.a) and having a molecular mass of 33kDa.CENPQ is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | CENPQ: Component of the CENPA-CAD (nucleosome distal) complex, a complex recruited to centromeres which is involved in assembly of kinetochore proteins, mitotic progression and chromosome segregation. May be involved in incorporation of newly synthesized CENPA into centromeres via its interaction with the CENPA-NAC complex. |
UniProt Protein Details: | Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 6p12.3 Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; cytosol; chromosome, pericentric region; actin cytoskeleton Biological Process: nucleosome assembly; DNA replication-independent nucleosome assembly at centromere; mitotic cell cycle |
NCBI Summary: | CENPQ is a subunit of a CENPH (MIM 605607)-CENPI (MIM 300065)-associated centromeric complex that targets CENPA (MIM 117139) to centromeres and is required for proper kinetochore function and mitotic progression (Okada et al., 2006 [PubMed 16622420]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008] |
