Biglycan protein is a member of the small leucine-rich proteoglycan (SLRP) family of proteins. The action of biglycan protein in the body is wide-ranging. It promotes bone growth, muscle development and regeneration, and collagen fibril assembly in several tissues. Biglycan protein has immunomodulatory effects. In people, Biglycan protein has been linked to atherosclerosis and aortic valve stenosis.
