Arginase is an enzyme that breaks down arginine to ornithine and urea. The mammalian arginase enzyme has at least two forms (I and II) that differ in their cellular distribution, subcellular localization, immunological crossreactivity, and physiological activity. ARG1 is a cytosolic enzyme that is located primarily in the liver and as part of the urea cycle. ARG1 deficiency is the cause of argininemia, a rare autosomal recessive illness characterized by hyperammonemia. Human Arginase/ARG1 Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
