AMPD2 is significant in purine metabolism by converting AMP to IMP. AMPD2 which functions as a homotetramer, is one of the three AMP deaminases shown in mammals. More than a few transcript variants encoding differentisoforms have been discovered for AMPD2.
AMPD2 Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a single,non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 667 amino acids (236-879 a.a) andhaving a molecular mass of 77.0kDa.AMPD2 is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus& purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | AMPD2: AMP deaminase plays a critical role in energy metabolism. Belongs to the adenosine and AMP deaminases family. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. |
UniProt Protein Details: | Protein type:Hydrolase; EC 3.5.4.6; Nucleotide Metabolism - purine Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1p13.3 Cellular Component: cytosol Molecular Function:AMP deaminase activity; protein binding Biological Process: IMP biosynthetic process; purine salvage Disease: Pontocerebellar Hypoplasia, Type 9; Spastic Paraplegia 63, Autosomal Recessive |
NCBI Summary: | The protein encoded by this gene is important in purine metabolism by converting AMP to IMP. The encoded protein, which acts as a homotetramer, is one of three AMP deaminases found in mammals. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
