ADAMTS4 (ADAM Metallopeptidase With Thrombospondin Type 1 Motif 4) is a Protein Coding gene. ADAMTS4 is a member of the ADAMTS (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motifs) family. This protein functions as a metalloproteinase, degrading extracellular matrix proteins. The encoded protein is secreted and may play a role in tissue remodeling. ADAMTS4 is located on chromosome 6p21.3. The encoded protein is secreted and may play a role in tissue remodeling. ADAMTS4 has been shown to play a role in diseases such as atherosclerosis, cancer, and arthritis.
