![]() | Immunofluorescence staining of MCF-7 cells with PACO53986 at 1:133, counter-stained with DAPI. The cells were fixed in 4% formaldehyde, permeabilized using 0.2% Triton X-100 and blocked in 10% normal Goat Serum. The cells were then incubated with the antibody overnight at 4°C. The secondary antibody was Alexa Fluor 488-congugated AffiniPure Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG(H+L). |

| Background: | Regulates endothelial chemotaxis and tube formation. Has a role in angiogenesis and apoptosis via modulation of the actin cytoskeleton and facilitation of proteasomal degradation of the apoptosis inhibitors BIRC3/IAP1 and BIRC2/IAP2. |
| Synonyms: | Endothelial cell-specific chemotaxis regulator (Apoptosis regulator through modulating IAP expression) (ARIA) (Endothelial cell-specific molecule 2), ECSCR, ECSM2 |
| UniProt Protein Function: | ECSM2: Regulates endothelial chemotaxis and tube formation. Has a role in angiogenesis via modulation of the actin cytoskeleton. Belongs to the ECSCR family.Protein type: Membrane protein, integralChromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 5q31.2Cellular Component: cytosol; plasma membraneBiological Process: negative regulation of angiogenesis |
| UniProt Protein Details: | |
| NCBI Summary: | The protein encoded by this gene is primarily found in endothelial cells and blood vessels, where it is involved in cell shape changes and EGF-induced cell migration. It can enhance the activation of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2/kinase insert domain receptor and also promote the proteolysis of internalized kinase insert domain receptor. This gene may play a role in angiogenesis-related diseases. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2014] |
