Background: |
UniProt Protein Function: | RRAGD: Has guanine nucleotide-binding activity but lacks intrinsic GTPase activity. Probably required for the amino acid- induced relocalization of mTORC1 to the lysosomes and its subsequent activation by the GTPase RHEB. This is a crucial step in the activation of the TOR signaling cascade by amino acids. Forms a heterodimer with RRAGA in a sequence-independent manner. Binds GTP. Interacts with NOL8 and RRAGB. Belongs to the GTR/RAG GTP-binding protein family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. |
UniProt Protein Details: | Protein type:G protein regulator, misc. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 6q15 Cellular Component: cytoplasm; cytosol; lysosome; nucleus Molecular Function:GTPase activity; protein binding; protein heterodimerization activity Biological Process: cell cycle arrest; cellular response to starvation; macroautophagy; positive regulation of TOR signaling pathway; regulation of autophagy |
NCBI Summary: | RRAGD is a monomeric guanine nucleotide-binding protein, or G protein. By binding GTP or GDP, small G proteins act as molecular switches in numerous cell processes and signaling pathways.[supplied by OMIM, Apr 2004] |
