Interacts with small capped HDV RNAs derived from genomic hairpin structures that mark the initiation sites of RNA-dependent HDV RNA transcription. Belongs to the DNA2/NAM7 helicase family. SDE3 subfamily. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
