Background:This gene encodes a member of the kelch-like family of proteins that share a common domain structure consisting of an N-terminal broad-complex, tramtrack, bric-a-brac/poxvirus and zinc finger domain and C-terminal kelch repeat motifs. The encoded protein may be involved in protein ubiquitination and cytoskeletal organization.
UniProt Protein Function:KLHL15: a substrate-specific adapter for the recruitment of substrates to Cul3-based E3 ubiquitin ligases. KLHL15-Cul3 specifically targets the PP2A regulatory subunit PPP2R5B to promote its turnover by ubiquitylation and proteasomal degradation. May contribute to the selective expression of the PP2A/B holoenzyme in the brain.
