Background: | This gene encodes a multidomain protein that functions as a scaffold protein to mediate the mitogen-activated protein kinase pathways downstream from Ras. This gene product is induced by vitamin D and inhibits apoptosis in certain cancer cells. It may also play a role in ternary complex assembly of synaptic proteins at the postsynaptic membrane and coupling of signal transduction to membrane/cytoskeletal remodeling. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. |
UniProt Protein Function: | CNKSR2: a RAF-binding multidomain protein required for RAS signaling. Contains several protein-protein interaction domains. Its PH domain interacts with Rho in a GTP-dependent manner. Associates with Rhophilin and RalGDS, Rho and Ras effector molecules. Two alternatively spliced isoforms have been described. |
UniProt Protein Details: | Protein type:Adaptor/scaffold Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: Xp22.12 Cellular Component: Golgi apparatus; postsynaptic membrane; neuron projection; cell soma; plasma membrane Molecular Function:identical protein binding Biological Process: regulation of signal transduction |
